Taking culottes from classy to comfy! Read on for some ‘how-to’ chit-chat…
Forcast culottes, high neck knit, wrap belt, duster coat, slouch bag
I recently collaborated with Forcast to showcase their Autumn 2016 range and a FIRM fave were these oh so comfy $60 culottes– so of course I had to do a little ‘how to’ about styling this trend!
1. Get High
High- WAISTED that is. This gives you options to pair with looser/slouchy tops while defining the waistline, or style the same way you would a trend from last year: the midi skirt.
2. #allblackeverything
You don’t have to choose all black but sticking to a uniform colour elongates the look, handy if you’re on the shorter side and concerned that culottes might come off frumpy!
3. Coat it
Another way to elongate the look is to add a longline vest or jacket. As you an see above it can completely change the silhouette of the look.
4. Slim down
My preference is voluminous but if you go for a slimmer pair keep the top loose, in a different texture/print if possible, and half tucked in to add a bit of interest.
5. Well heeled
Heels are a no brainer to balance a voluminous look and a great foolproof go-to. I’d do strappy or caged heels for a night out, and boots or pumpms for work. However, if the length of the culottes hit just right flats can work perfectly well too- have a play around with it!
